ABSTRACT

Exact economics is not a philosophy of the economic actions of humans. Of course it is not a philosophy of human actions in general. Even that has been claimed; it has been said that human actions can be explained solely by economic motivations. One could be tempted to combine all sciences that deal with human actions under one umbrella, under the perspective of value judgment. Then economics could be defined like a science of economic evaluation and ethics, esthetics, etc., in a similar way. To act economically and to act according to economic motives therefore is not the same. The egotist, both the utilitarian and the voluntary cut his tree with the minimum amount of energy possible as would do the altruist. So, when both are planning to cut a tree, they might have different motives but their acting is the same.
