ABSTRACT

The partisans of non-historical orthodoxy, educated by the Italian political situation, can impose their own form of life on the whole Catholic world, as a province of the Church of Italy. Cardinal Ottaviani also revealed in the Catholic Herald his personal view of the relationship between society and the Church. Although the Council has been summoned for the good of the universal Church, it will also bring advantages for civilized society, for the good of society is a natural outcome of the progress of Christian life. Roman Curia is that whole ensemble of organizations grouped around the Pope, whose task is to permit him to exercise his pastoral role throughout the entire world. It derives from the conciliar commissions founded after the Church of Trent, though the Holy Office dates from 1542. The criticisms of the Curia are not personal; they are institutional.
