ABSTRACT

China's publishing industry began to regain its strength in the early 1980s and tremendous advances have been achieved in this industry in the twenty years. The development of higher education for the publishing industry in China is due to the prosperity of the industry itself. Mid-level education for the publishing industry includes secondary specialized school and technical school education. In the publishing industry of China, only a small proportion of the employees have gained formal professional education; most of them need further training by the industry. The problem is quite common in all countries, including European countries and the United States, whose publishing industry is well developed. The influence of China's admission to the World Trade Organization may be the most interesting topic in the Chinese publishing industry. The application of new technology is the most revolutionary event in contemporary publishing industry worldwide.
