ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the police model of satanic crime based on lectures and handouts for approximately 50 cult crime seminars held throughout the United States from 1984 through 1990. It outlines the model and places it within the police organizational environment. The chapter discusses how the police organizational environment abets and encourages the satanic crime model to flourish. Cult seminars present a four-tiered model of satanic crime. The model's simplicity has led many to interpret it as a continuum of behavior, with innocent kids entering the occult realm through "Dungeons & Dragons". The most remarkable facet of the cult-cop phenomenon is its restriction to field officers, either patrol or investigative personnel, at the lowest ranks up to first-level supervisors, usually sergeants. The police have never been able to dissociate themselves from demands to regulate, control, or eliminate nonconformism, deviance, and threatening ideologies, despite the best efforts of police executives to remain apolitical.
