ABSTRACT

MY COUSIN IRMA has come to Moscow for a visit with her husband, A1 Grünewald, in tow. Irma has a shopping list and means to get through it: Beriozka dolls, a fur hat, an antique samovar if she can find one, those lacquered boxes with handpainted scenes of old Russia. A1 wears a long face and says he’d rather be in Moscow than pushing up daisies. He knows better than to argue with his wife.
