ABSTRACT

A PREFABRICATED CITY on the surface of the moon, that is Friendship Park out Chimky-Chovrino way in the northwest comer of Moscow. The cosmonauts who put this lunar city in place have neglected to bring with them the green belts and banks of flowers that are featured in the architect’s mock-up. Here today, gone tomorrow, so why take thought for today, that is what the new buildings are saying. Elsewhere on the planet, even in fraternal lands, these same expedient buildings blossom with boxes of flowers. In Yugoslavia, for instance, the moonscape is a palette of color. Balcony by balcony, the colors are different, depending on the eye of the resident artist. This difference identifies the people who live there.
