“Nothing more than a few words”

The enchantment of a few words, simply spoken, and the “metaphysical experience” of this is what we come to in this chapter. What we want to show is beautifully illustrated by a passage in Part Two of the first volume of Remembrance of Things Past, which is entitled Swann’s Way (1913); it concerns Monsieur Swann and his lover, Odette de Crécy.
