ABSTRACT

The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) has grown rapidly over the years in all spheres and evolved as an institution of advanced academic research and higher learning. Interaction with researchers from other institutions has always been given a priority on IGIDR's agenda. Many scholars and professors visit the institute and stay for brief time periods to interact with the students and faculty members of the institute, and to consult the institute's library. IGIDR makes an important impact on the Indian and international think tank and policy analysis community in several ways. It is unique among the think tanks of India in the sense that it has a multidisciplinary focus, does quantitative and policy oriented work, and has one of the largest Ph.D. IGIDR has, undertaken sponsored projects from central and state government, corporate sector, United Nations agencies, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, multilateral aid agencies, and other international agencies.
