ABSTRACT

Mr. Lee is a seasoned veteran who has taught GPE on the leeward side of Oahu for 15 years. On this particular day, while Mr. Lee is engaging students from his 10th-grade PE class in a badminton unit, Ms. James, the school's special education teacher, approaches him and asks if one of her students, Kawika, can participate in his classes. Mr. Lee stares in disbelief. Mr. Lee already knows a little about Kawika. On previous occasions, Mr. Lee has watched Kawika as he maneuvered his wheelchair with relative ease in the cafeteria. Mr. Lee is concerned that he is not knowledgeable about assistive technology but he is willing to learn. Standing firm on his philosophy of quality physical education for all students, and after acquiring more information about assistive technologies, Mr. Lee decides to preview Kawika's IEP. Sitting in his office after the class, Mr. Lee is enthused by technology and how it has helped Kawika participate in PE class.
