ABSTRACT
Navajo Middle and High School is located near Indian Wells, Arizona. Na Ah' has been a dance instructor and physical education teacher at the school for more than 15 years. She teaches a third-period 6th-grade class with 17 students including Alston. Alston is a Native American boy who has ADHD. Na Ah' pairs students with peer partners for tennis skill development. Alston is paired with Nathaniel on court number 3. Tennis is a favorite of Alston's, and he gets excited whenever the ball flies over the metal fence or rolls off the court and needs to be retrieved. Throughout the tennis games Alston is verbally interactive with his peer partner and other classmates. Clearly, Alston enjoys playing tennis-or at least he enjoys chasing the tennis ball. After all this play, Alston and his classmates are excited, sweating, and in no mood to sit at a desk so Na Ah' decides to take them back into the gym for class closure.
