ABSTRACT

School administrators and teachers are becoming more and more receptive of inclusion practice for students with disabilities. In fact, at Parkview most of these educational professionals embrace an inclusion philosophy in that all students can learn, get along, and respect each other. Mr. Alvarez is the regular physical education teacher at Crane Park Middle School. Students enjoy his Latino songs, and he often uses them in his classes. Mr. Alvarez assigns the class into groups to come up with their own creative aerobic fitness routine. Ms. Easton introduces Mr. Alvarez to Mr. and Mrs. Miller and their daughter Lisa. As the Millers try to keep Lisa from running away, Mr. Alvarez tries to appear pleasant. That night, Mr. Alvarez reads about Lisa's condition, Asperger disorder. He also contacts Ms. Sato, the APE teacher in the district. Despite his initial negative judgments about Lisa, Mr. Alvarez knows that at this point he can do little about it.
