ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes key concepts from the videotape: "Set in Order" to guide participants in 5S implementation team during implementation work on the floor. The implementation team will continue 5S activities with the second S, Set in Order. "Set in Order" describes why this activity is important and tells how to apply it. Then participants will go to the target area to review and adjust the locations of items that are needed for the area's functions. In this step, participants will use temporary lines, labels, and signboards to indicate where items belong. Set in Order has four main steps: analyze the current situation; target issues to improve; decide where things belong and how they should be kept—and put them there; and make it obvious where things belong. Set in Order guide participants in 5S implementation team to be aware of the concepts, activities, techniques, and benefits of Set in Order.
