ABSTRACT

Only a portion of the aspects of Asian cultures described in the preceding chapters applies to the subcultures of North American gangs. However, because the members of Asian gangs usually have not been successful in integrating themselves into either their home country culture or the mainline cultures of this country, it is difficult to describe their subcultures as either “Asian” or “North American”. Thus, in large part, the information in this chapter may provide some useful information about groups that remain tangential to the interaction between mainline Asian and North American cultures but tend to favor the latter. 23 See Figures 2 and 3.
