ABSTRACT

Attempts to bridge the immense gap between the fundamentals of culturally scattered religious traditions (Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, Anamism) and the effects of that tradition that are found in the everyday lives of people are difficult and necessarily oversimplified. However, to lay a foundation for further understanding and for informed inferences between what is read and what is observed in street behavior, these overviews of Confucianism and Buddhism, plus the comparisons of mindsets in Chapter 12, may help the reader to gain a more inclusive view of some of the religious and cultural roots of Asian cultures, particularly Chinese.
