When charging a suspect, make sure that you have accurate knowledge of the nationality, ethnic group, or dialect group to which the he or she belongs. For example, an ethnic Chinese who was born and lived in Vietnam may or may not claim that he is Vietnamese — for his own reasons. Consequently, you might request the wrong translator, draw inaccurate conclusions, or fail to trace him and his connections in several data bases.
