ABSTRACT

First aid supplies must be available and our consulting medical people must approve the first aid supplies. The supplies should be appropriate in type and quantity for the type of operation performed at our workplace. Drenching and flushing facilities include showers and eye wash fountains, and in certain applications, neutralizing solutions in bottles. Whenever flushing is used, it should be for at least 15 minutes, and then the employee should be taken to a hospital by ambulance. In permanent workplaces when the extent of the hazards so dictates, the drenching (shower) and the flushing (eyewash) facilities should be connected to a permanent water system. All drenching and flushing units should be located in close proximity to the hazard. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is the combination of artificial respiration and manual artificial circulation that is recommended for use in cases of cardiac arrest. CPR provides proper care at the earliest possible time, which is vital.
