ABSTRACT

The William-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 requires that employers comply with the Occupational Safety and Health standards of the Act, and that employees shall comply with standards, rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Act. A job safety and health protection workplace poster, informing employees of their rights and responsibilities under the Act is also available from our nearest Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) office. All employees have the right to examine any records kept by their employers regarding exposure to hazardous materials, or the results of medical surveillance and special testing and/or workplace monitoring results. If an employer refuses to admit an OSHA compliance officer, or if an employer attempts to interfere with the inspection, the act permits appropriate legal action. The compliance officer will discuss all unsafe or unhealthful conditions observed during the inspection and all apparent violations for which a citation may be issued or recommended.
