ABSTRACT

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) does require that office areas must also comply with its regulations. It is a known fact that office people believe that only production and construction workers are exposed to hazards and injuries. It is a known fact that hundreds of people die each year in office accidents, and many more are seriously injured. Falls make up the largest single type of accident that occur in our nation's offices. Many people believe that because they do not work in an industrial or construction area, they do not need to pay much attention to safety. Employees were also struck by doors being opened blindly from the other side. The California study showed that strains and overexertion occurred almost entirely to men, possibly because of the lesser weights usually lifted by women. Our safety program must be a total safety program, and that includes all office personnel.
