ABSTRACT

Most supervisors have a good knowledge of the equipment, especially when it comes to getting more work done without sacrificing quality or safety. If an imminent danger situation is discovered during our safety tour, we should take appropriate action to stop the job and warn personnel of the danger. To be effective, the safety inspection process has to be a daily routine and not something that is done only when things go wrong. Supervisors must be constantly alert to the condition of their work-sites, so as to detect and correct unsafe conditions. Also, they should look to see that the workers are employing safe working practices. Some companies use safety committees or safety coordinators to inspect the workplace. Maintenance workers should also inspect for safety when they are performing their checks of equipment. The tool room employees should inspect all tools to see that they are kept in safe condition.
