By implication, quality excellence includes the continuous pursuit of improvement, as an individual, organization, and community. Communities of Excellence is a process whereby individuals and companies share their quality improvement expertise with members of the community and facilitate quality improvement efforts within the community. Communities of Excellence is a process whereby individuals and companies share their quality improvement expertise with members of the community and facilitate quality improvement efforts within the community. The real Communities of Excellence exist when all the pieces of the community focus on quality, using the quality tools and systems-type thinking. By reducing downtime, improving communications, and improving the system, the people in fleet maintenance have increased quality and productivity in a host of other functions. The growth of the world economy and the declining US competitiveness threaten the American standard of living and position of leadership in the world.
