ABSTRACT

The decision to use hot-melt adhesives in any given industrial manufacturing process is usually based on more than one reason. The predominant one is the rapid setting of these adhesives once they have been applied. Another prime reason for their success is that there is standardized, modular design, application equipment available for these adhesives. The temperature-control system of hoses is designed with consideration for heat radiation from the hoses into the environment. Therefore, the flexible hot-melt hoses should never be led through additional piping or have additional covering material added. Hot-melt hoses will transfer heat into the hot melt under static conditions. Since heat is the element which makes hot-melt application possible, a simple on-off power switch can put an entire hot-melt system in or out of operation. Hot-melt application equipment today is an above-average growth industry with widespread distribution and service networks and with multimillion-dollar budgets for research and development.
