ABSTRACT
In this lecture we concentrate on the special C*-algebra B(H), where H is a Hilbert space. The unit in the algebra B(H) will be denoted by I. Our main results will be a new characterization for positive operators in B(H) and the polar decomposition for operators in B(H). We point out that polar decomposition cannot be carried out in an arbitary C* -algebra.
