ABSTRACT

There are many software packages which will perform various kinds of repeated measures analyses. Some of them have special routines which produce output in a form specially suited to repeated measures. Others permit repeated measures analyses to be performed as special cases of more general models. And yet others have no special facilities but permit macros to be written which will perform repeated measures analyses. Obviously it is impracticable to write a comprehensive review of all that is available, including code for macros and so on. Moreover, the problem is compounded by the constant development of software, both new and old. New programs are introduced and old ones are updated as inadequacies are identified or new developments incorporated. Despite these complications, however, we believe it would be useful to describe briefly the facilities which are available in recent issues of some of the most comprehensive and widespread computer packages. Thus, in what follows we summarize the repeated measures analysis facilities available in BMDP, SPSSx and SAS. Only a summary is given since it would be inappropriate here to reproduce the full details and syntax of the particular programs involved. Those can be found in the relevant manuals. Here we have just attempted to single out the most important aspects.
