ABSTRACT

Safety and the potential risk of serious injuries in the construction industry are often interrelated or even synergistic with other hazards associated with construction work. All grinding machines are to be supplied with sufficient power to maintain the spindle speed at safe levels under all conditions of normal operation. Compressed air receivers and other equipment are used for providing and utilizing compressed air when performing operations such as cleaning, drilling, hoisting, and chipping. Burns and electricity are the hazards confronted by the arc welder. Thus, only manual electrode holders which are specifically designed for arc welding and cutting, and are of a capacity capable of safely handling the maximum rated current required by the electrodes, are to be used. Engineering controls, work practices, personal protective equipment, or a combination of these, are to be implemented to protect employees from exposure to hazardous substances, and safety and health hazards.
