ABSTRACT

Objectivity skills are the skills used to perceive reality clearly, undiluted by own personal needs, wishes or “shoulds.” Acceptance skills are the skills to face and immediately accept the things that the team chooses not to change. Humor skills are the skills to face inconvenient realities by humbly admitting that events in the universe may not be organized around the team personally. Relabeling skills are the skills to diminish the power of a potentially frustrating or volatile situation by looking at the experience in a different way and using less explosive, inflammatory and volcanic words to describe it. Rational-thinking skills are skills to prove to the teammates that it’s not what happens to us in life that affects us; rather, it’s the way we look at things that affects us. Assertiveness skills help to state the feelings, thoughts and needs for the purpose of improving the relationship with the team in a way that will be effective.
