ABSTRACT

Stockless Production is an approach that aims to transform a company's production system. Research and development in the Stockless Production approach began in the industrial engineering department of Sumitomo Electric Industries. A Policy Objective (P/O) Matrix is useful when a company wants to systematically conduct improvement and transformation activities, including Stockless Production. In short, the P/O Matrix enables management to make necessary decisions in an organized manner. Then develop countermeasures on improvement cards. In this way, make progress in Stockless Production through structure for enhancing daily activities through creativity (SEDAC). A number of Italian companies have introduced Stockless Production. For example, shipbuilder Fincantieri reported success in reducing production lead time and work-in-process quantities by using the P/O Matrix and SEDAC. The chapter addresses a case in which the principles of Stockless Production were applied to creating a smooth flow of information in addition to materials.
