ABSTRACT

The role of adsorption phenomena in the modification of surface reactivity and the change of valence state of vanadium during the catalytic gas-phase selective oxidation of 1-butene to 2-butanone on solid Pd-V2O5 Wacker-type catalyst are reported. The behavior of Pd-doped KH3PV1Mo11O40 in the same reaction and of supported Pd-V2O5 in the oxidative dehydrogenation of the possible intermediate sec-butyl alcohol are also shown.
