ABSTRACT

Single step vapor phase hydrogenation of phenol over Pt-M/C (M = Cr, V or Zr) alloy at a reaction temperature of 200 °C shows different selectivities depending upon the alloying element. Pt-Cr/C and Pt-V/C are highly selective for hydrogenation of phenol to cyclohexanone. However, Pt-Zr/C is more selective to cyclohexanol.
