ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses window analysis, the first element of the CEDAC system. It discusses window analysis, the ways to eliminate defect, window analysis exercise, analyzing the results of the window, and directions for countermeasures. Windows analysis method analyzes concrete facts about the various defective outcomes which occur in daily work and attempts to categorize them from a management perspective. This technique creates habits for gathering facts correctly, categorizing data for measurement, and establishing effective countermeasures. Window analysis is based on a simple concept: an effective countermeasure cannot be designed without grasping the facts accurately. In order to practice methods of classification with the Window, the chapter presents six simple case studies. They are: The Coffee That No One Drank; A Motor Failure; The Delayed Delivery; A Slip of the Mind; the Ten-day Wait; and An Accident Six Years Later.
