ABSTRACT

The cause-and-effect diagram with the addition of cards (CEDAC) Diagram was developed in the quest for an effective system to establish reliable standards that eliminate serious defects caused by lack of such a reliable method. This chapter includes: synopsis and special features of the CEDAC Diagram, and explores how to make and use a CEDAC Diagram. By setting standards, the CEDAC Diagram is a practical procedure to deal with Category D (finding new and better operational and manufacturing methods). The standard card may be removed from the Cause Side and placed in a specific place on the upper right side of the CEDAC Diagram. A standard is set by integrating the knowledge and experience of everyone involved: workers, engineers, supervisors, and management. The problems and obstacles needing to be solved for the attainment of the improvement target must be written on the cards.
