On the other hand, TRE was also proposed as a quantitative topological measure of aromaticity [68,70,72]. Since the aromatidty of a conjugated molecule depends on many factors - and not only on cyclic conjugatimi - it is hardly surprising that this second application of TRE led to many controversies. In the recent chemical literature TRE has been criticized by some authors [102-110] and defended by others [111-113].
