ABSTRACT

An astonishing number of chemical compounds have been investigated by chemical ionization methods. It is neither possible nor practical to review all of these studies. The present review will concentrate on those classes of compounds for which systematic or substantial studies have been carried out, thus permitting general conclusions to be drawn. For the most part, the discus sion will be limited to monofunctional compounds to illustrate the role of the functionality in determining the chemical ionization mass spectrum.
