ABSTRACT
A wide variety of chemical ionization reagent ion systems have been investigated to date. The following discussion reviews the major systems used in both positive and negative chemical ionization studies and outlines the major types of ionization reactions observed. Detailed considerations of the chemical ionization mass spectra of various classes of compounds are deferred to Chapter 5.
