ABSTRACT

The fundamental ideas and vocabulary of differential and integral calculus are reviewed in this appendix. Familiarity with calculus will help you to understand the discussion of the dynamic behavior of chemicals in this book and the review of propagation of error in Appendix 3. Many good presentations of the subject are in print. See the texts by Dence (1975) and by Mortimer (1981), for instance. Tables of derivatives and integrals are also available (Beyer, 1991).
