ABSTRACT

Good protection can be obtained by means of a well ventilated work station. To ensure clean air and well-defined air movements, the weighing station should be equipped with a supply of high efficiency particulate air (HEPA)-filtered air from the ceiling. The LR-Method has been used to evaluate the weighing station for substances used for sterile products. Weighing of sterile products was performed in a clean room with HEPA-filtered air and ordinary mixing ventilation. The particle counter probe was located in the critical area over the substance drum, and particles were generated close to the working operator. Work at weighing stations for pharmaceutical substances can cause risk situations for the operator as well for the product. When operators are working at stations, their movements play a vital role. The safety of a weighing station cannot be assessed when the stations are evaluated solely on the basis of air flow or air velocity.
