ABSTRACT
The French Agency for Nuclear Waste Management (ANDRA) has proposed several concepts to dispose of nuclear wastes inside stable geological layers. For one of these concepts, nuclear waste could be put in a canister in a carbon steel pipe. This pipe would be set in a hole excavated in the host rock. The space between the walls of the hole and the pipe could be filled with engineered sintered clay.
