ABSTRACT
Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is classified as a food additive and is on the GRAS list. It is infrequently used in pharmaceuticals and is not used in cosmetics. The FDA lists MSG as an inactive ingredient in one approved oral syrup pharmaceutical product. 1
