ABSTRACT
In recent literature, there has been renewed interest in the problem of plates vibrating in contact with water. This is stimulated by new technical applications and also by the availability of powerful numerical tools based on the finite element method that make numerical solutions of fluid-structure interaction problems possible. However, the use of the finite element method requires enormous amounts of time for modeling and computation.
