ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: At present, there are more than 300 dams in Slovakia. Fifty of them are registered in the ICOLD’s World Register. Earthfill and rockfill dams in the total number of 33, which were constructed from the local construction materials represent predominant type. Eleven dams can be classified as combined, with earthfill dam bodies and concrete function blocks and six Slovak dams are concrete ones. Anomalies recorded mainly in the seepage regime at some dams gave a rise to remedial measures. The paper deals with some knowledges and experiences gained during the remedial works, which aimed at additional sealing of grout curtains in the subsoil layers of the Hrinova, Liptovska Mara and Velka Domasa dams.
