ABSTRACT

System configuration and parametrization are two separate steps of automatic, computer-aided generation of the application software of a distributed computer control system. System software is that part of software system, that serves not only for implementation and run of new, user designed application programs, but also for run of ready to use application program packages, delivered by the vendor. Database manager is a program, belonging to the system software, usually distributed within the multi-computer system in that degree as the databases are distributed. Communication software is aimed at data transfer between individual system or database parts. The transfer takes place on the busses and local area networks, available in the system. In modern distributed computer control systems, where the demands on plant operator - especially during the plant upset - are enormous, knowledge-based software can in a great deal help to solve the simultaneous problem of plant monitoring and optimal process control.
