ABSTRACT

Test embankment of three different sections in Kivikko test area in Helsinki City were constructed in autumn 1998. This full-scale test work is a part of the on going EuroSoilStab -project which is under the EC Programme for R&D. One of the main achievement of constructing Kivikko test embankment is to get information for developing design methods of stabilised structures. The test area is situated in wooded swamp area. All embankments are founded on ”semi-hard” columns (design method) and masstabilisation. Designing calculations have been made by traditional means and also by using numerical methods. Main purposes of these analysis are to compare the behaviour of the stabilisation between calculated and later observed in the real structure and to find answers to the design assumptions.
