ABSTRACT

The concept of using dry quick lime for deep soil mixing was in Scandinavia first presented around 1967. During the 30 years passed since then, the technique has evolved considerably. The method is based on injecting dry binder carried by compressed air into the soil. This technique requires special equipment. The paper describes different designs used for construction equipment and the development of the machines for DJM-production. Focus is given to DJM-equipment of the Scandinavian type.
