ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author deals with self-awareness. There are two components to impression management, the actor (the manager) and the audience (co-workers). Respectful Managers are 100 per cent trusted to act in truth. The spin-off effect is that the lack of equality felt with a malevolent manager prevents important and sometimes strategically vital information being passed up the hierarchy. The characteristic of a Respectful Manager is that they are natural stewards. Good managers keep their staff and accommodate them if they need to take leave for whatever reason, even retaining them part-time if possible, and willingly keep them beyond retirement age. A characteristic of Respectful Managers is that they will always look after their people, as much as they can. Probably the ruthless behaviour is one of the suite of behaviours that form the Tyrant Manager or the Arrogant Fraudster’s profile.
