ABSTRACT

This chapter analyses the growth, current structure and possible future of Norwegian-based employment within the supply industry. The bulk of Norwegian-based employment in 2014/15 was related to the home market due to the high volume of operations that require physical presence, political/union pressure and physical presence in operations to be highly beneficial. Norwegian-based employment will fall with reduced activity on the Norwegian continental shelf and only parts of this fall may be compensated by increased exports. As the competencies of both companies and their employees are applicable also in other markets, there are possibilities for gradually more non-petroleum related employment.
