ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapter of this book. The book reviews a complex but definitively symbiotic relationship between education and the other sectors of development closely connected with wellbeing; namely, health, nutrition, and WASH. It explores the interactions between education and environmental sustainability. The book discusses the research relating to the extent that education, as human capital, tends to contribute to higher incomes both at the individual level and in terms of overall economic growth, through a variety of channels. The book focuses on a range of topics relating to education, violence, conflict, and peace. It also explores the role of education in development more broadly, by exploring the global governance regime of sustainable development, the international Education for All (EFA) agenda, and the concept of human rights and sustainable development in and through education.
