ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides the reader with a broad-based guide to the best practice in conducting policy-and practice-relevant research on children, families and communities within a real world context in pragmatic settings. It explores the evaluation of larger scale and complex community change initiatives, also known as complex or comprehensive community initiatives. The book discusses the importance of effective fieldwork and what a researcher and the community must consider when they set out to collect data from a community. It identifies the growing attention being paid to 'secondary dissemination' of research findings beyond the audience for whom the interventions are designed, the commissioning bodies and/or the funders. The book focuses on effecting changes at a service level to achieve measurable outcomes for children and families.
