ABSTRACT

This chapter details different programs on representations of immigrants at the selected museums in Copenhagen, Manchester and Paris, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. Whilst the contact zone has been a key concept structuring projects and reflections on representation, the limits of this approach are made explicit, and the recent move to more fluid and flexible projects detailed. Despite these recent approaches, this chapter explains that the representation of immigrants in museums does not necessarily lead to their greater inclusion in national narratives .
