ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book maintains that education for human rights is likely to be based on thinking, feeling and doing. It concerns an important strand equality. Dignity needs to be guaranteed equally for all. The book argues that preparing the future entails acting in the present. In order to judge the equity of treatment, schools need to monitor the results, achievements, and groupings and also punishments or exclusions. The list of universal responsibilities drawn up by the Commission for Global Governance can also usefully be applied to schools and universities. All activity in the school should then be directed to achieving the aims and thus contribute to the common good. In view of the right to equitable treatment, the institution is obligated to have policies that help to ensure equity.
