ABSTRACT

A fail-safe supply network can be used to handle both (1) variations modifying its planned flow, and (2) disruptions distorting its network structure. In this chapter, we deal with variation management of planned flow in a single forward supply chain. First, we describe different types of variations which may occur in supply chains. Then, we elaborate how these variations affect supply chains’ efficiencies. Finally, we develop a model to select the variation management decisions for supply chains. Numerical analysis of the results provides some insights about variation management in supply chains.
