ABSTRACT

The spirit of science enables us to create sparks, namely discoveries, innovations, and subsequent development processes. The sparks are not automatically created from the spirit but need knowledge and skills and, more importantly, creativity and inventiveness. The spirit leads to sparks of discovery and innovation in scientists, technologists, entrepreneurs, and others, with great benefits for society. Imagination is important for both scientists and inventors in the creation of their works, as can be seen from the examples of the works of eminent scientists like Einstein and eminent inventors like Leonardo da Vinci. The imagination that can go on to produce sparks of creativity and inventiveness must contain originality, something that no other person has conceived of before, or at least not in exactly the same way. The scenario described is just one of many possible ones in going from imagination to creativity.
